CLUB UPDATE

So much for the announcement regarding our future! back in October I had a meeting with Swindon Borough Council, where they assured me that we would be the preferred partner to take over a local school that was closing.

Since that time I have been trying in vain to get an update, only to find out today that we are now only a 'POTENTIAL' partner?

I am trying to find out what this means and I will update everyone as soon as I know something.

As usual it appears to be one step forward SIX years back and we now only have 49 weeks to secure our future - WISH ME LUCK, i'll need it if the last SIX years is anything to go by.

Our gymnasts have continued performing at the highest level, despite the uncertainty over our future and there have been too many successes to detail here, (see news pages for details).

However one outstanding achievement is that of Esprit's British Champion- Laura Halford. On her return from a very successful trip to Finland for an International competition where she again excelled, Laura was stunned to learn that she had been voted 'OCS Young Sports Star for 2007'

An incredible achievement that now sees her name alongside previous winners of an OCS award, such as gymnasts Beth Tweddle, Louis Smith and Holly Murdock, as well as many other sporting champions. Laura is a credit to her club, her parents and of course herself. Well done, from all of us at Esprit, a well deserved award.

Don't forget Thursday pre-school for vulnerable groups. The lessons are subsidised and only cost £1.50, what a bargain! (if you can't find a leaflet at a centre near you, print one out here by clicking on the 'active swindon' logo)

Check out our recent news story's for all the up to date news on Esprit.
