continues to top the Nationals

Feb 2007
Stratton
based gymnastics club Esprit continues to excel at national
competitions, with its rhythmic gymnasts returning from
this weekends national Duets and Trio competition with
medals in every section entered.
Not
to be outdone of course the clubs artistic gymnasts did
exactly the same at Wiltshire Club grades, with exceptional
performances from some of the clubs younger competitors.
It
was a trip to Burton-on-Trent however that started the
winning weekend, on the Saturday, with the clubs Rhythmic
Gymnasts performing complex syncronised routines in pairs
or trio’s. Their performances confirming Esprit’s
status as one of the most successful multi-disciplined
gymnastic clubs in the country.
The
start of the day saw Esprit’s youngest competitors,
Gabriela Caruso and Maya Lucas, in the under 10 Hoop section,
perform a Hoop routine that comfortably claimed the Silver
medal with 8.950.
Following
Gabriela and Maya were under 12’s Harriet Evans
and Alicia Veveris, in their first competition since being
selected for the Great Britain National Squad, the girls
produce an excellent bronze medal winning performance
in the Ribbon section with a commendable 7.875.
Harriet
and Alicia then teamed up with team-mate Hannah Curtis
for the under 12 trio in Rope and claimed an excellent
and very well deserved Gold medal. Hannah proving she
made the right decision to take up rhythmic gymnastics
after a succesful few years as an Artistic gymnast. She
fitted in perfectly with Esprit’s 2 GB squad members
and once again proved the club’s knack for developing
exceptional gymnasts in all the disciplines.
Esprit’s
other 2 Great Britain gymnasts Laura Halford and Jade
Faulkner continued the winning performances with a fabulous
silver in the Junior Clubs Duet, before moving on to team
up with Micia Falaki in Esprit’s final section,
the Junior Ball, to claim their second silver of the day
with a level 10.00 score.
The
very next day Esprit’s youngest Artistic gymnastic
competitors, Rhianna Bryon and Alice Telling, both only
8, dominated the Club Grade 5 event at the Wiltshire School
of Gymnastics in Melksham. Alice, along with an exceptionally
well-earned gold medal, scored a very impressive ‘distinction’,
the only person at her grade to achieve this. Team-mate
Rhianna followed closely behind with a very well deserved
silver medal, to round off another very satisfying weekend
for the Stratton based gymnastics club.
A
host of silverware to add to the clubs growing collection,
from every single event entered and further proof of Esprit’s
first class training techniques and exceptionally talented
young gymnasts.
