Seven-medal haul two for Esprit Gymnasts

Swindon Gymnasts April Coombs (15) and Tayshan Dowe (10) kept up Esprit’s winning streak at high Level competition, by winning an array of medals at the National Grades Finals recently.

April, continues to improve as a gymnast, this year competing against gymnasts from all over the UK in the grade 9 finals. Producing some of her best ever routines she took first place in both the Hoop and Ribbon sections. She backed this up with an impressive Silver in Rope and 4th in Ball to secure the overall Silver medal, only a short way behind Louisa Poulis from the Elena club.

Tayshan, in her first ever finals emulated April’s success by winning Silver with her Hoop and a very impressive Gold in Rope, to secure the overall Silver medal, only a small margin behind Emma Griffin from Canterbury.

Both girls are members of the Stratton based gymnastics club Esprit and April in particular not only continues to excel as a gymnast, she passes on her extensive knowledge to the younger members of the club and has recently qualified as a gymnastic coach.

Head of coaching at Esprit, Deb Hows said, “Both April and Tayshan fully deserve this success. Potentially, Tayshan has a bright future ahead of her as a gymnast, whilst April continues to shine in competition and is turning out to be a valuable member of the coaching team here at Esprit”.

Along with April & Tayshan, youngster Caitlin Hewlett participated at Grade 4 and performed exceptionally well herself, with an impressive 10th overall. Excellent results from 3 bright young prospects.
