Swindon Gymnasts from the ESPRIT ACADEMY celebrated the news that they were to have their own purpose built Gymnastics Centre by winning more that TWENTY gold, silver and bronze medals at the South West Championships held at Bath University on Sunday. Seventeen young gymnasts between the ages of 6 and 15 travelled to the University of Bath to compete against top gymnasts from across the South West in this annual competition and performed to the highest standards. The dedication and hard work of the youngsters shone through and between them they won 9 Gold, 7 Silver and 5 Bronze medals as well as the overall Junior Trophy and the Best performer in an age group award. Deb Hows, Head Rhythmic coach from Esprit said “It was a fantastic result from children that have never had a proper centre to train in, every single gymnast from Esprit showed they have what it takes to win – we are all extremely proud of them.

Esprit have just recently secured a change of use on a brand new 8,000sqft warehouse at the ‘io’ centre, Stratton St Margaret, Swindon which they aim to transform into a dedicated Gymnastics Centre. “Esprit is set to become the centre of excellence for gymnastics in Swindon” continued Deb. “All of the children competing at Bath performed out of their skin, against some of the best gymnasts in the country and once the Academy is open early in the new year we fully expect to build on these results and for Swindon to become a real force in British Gymnastics”.

Watch this space, after the determination and hard work shown by the young gymnasts at Esprit, it would take a brave person to bet on them not improving on these already impressive results. A full breakdown of the results are:
