The
future’s bright for Esprit youngsters.
Just
one week on from Esprit Gymnastics triumph at the British
Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships and following the news
that GB’s Beth Tweddle had secured a fantastic Bronze
in the World Championships in Melbourne, Australia, its
very youngest Artistic Gymnasts started out on their own
route to championship success. Seven of the clubs gymnasts
the youngest only six years old competed in the Wiltshire
grading competition and every girl succeeded in passing
their respective grade.
Not
only that the girls managed to win a haul of SIX medals
between them, 4 Gold’s, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze and
all now look set to emulate the success of their older club
mates. Six year old youngster Caitlin Hewlett started the
competition off with a fabulous GOLD in the Grade 4 competition
for those six and under, which was followed by equally impressive
performances in Grade 4 for the under 7’s where Alice
Telling secured Silver, Rhianna Bryon Bronze and Aimee Shave
a well deserved pass.
Grade
4 for under 9’s saw Laura Heads take GOLD, as did
the impressive Olivia Bloodworth in Grade 3 for under 7’s,
Whilst eight year old Eva Maddison matched her club mates
all the way in grade 2 by finishing off an amazing day with
yet another GOLD.
Katy
Smith, Esprit’s head of Artistic coaching said, “Gymnasts
this young often find the pressure of their first big competition
an overwhelming experience, but the Esprit girls showed
that they had prepared well, which along with their discipline
and attention to detail ensured medal winning performances.
The girls were justly rewarded by not only passing their
grades with flying colours but with the Gold, Silver and
Bronze medals they richly deserved, I am very proud of them
all”.
If
anyone is interested in seeing the girls perform Esprit
are holding a gymnastics display at the Academy on 11 and
18 December (18th already sold out, a few tickets remain
for the 11th). Tickets £2 from 01793 822262.
