Esprit girls continue to
top the region
Following
Esprit Gymnastics Artistic gymnasts fantastic success
at the British Compulsory and Club grades recently, some
of the clubs squad gymnasts were off to the South West
Floor & Vault competition in Melksham and then down
to Poole near Bournmouth, to take part in the FIG open.

Both
competitions were to be used to perfect new and even more
complicated routines, but even so the girls equipped themselves
incredibly well, all putting in solid performances that
resulted in yet more medals for the Stratton St Margaret
based gymnastics club.
First
up was the South West Floor & Vault and Courtney Hows
carried on where she left off at the British Club Grades
with yet another Individual Silver medal. She followed
this up with an overall Silver, 3 apparatus Silvers and
one apparatus Gold in the FIG competition in Poole.
Every
Esprit gymnast achieved a top 5 position in their respective
group and seeing young Daisy Rolt (11) walk up to collect
not one but 5 Bronze medals was great moment, every time
she stepped off the podium, she had to return to collect
another. It looked harder work than winning them and caused
great amusement in the large audience.
Every
Esprit competitor performed to the highest standard at
the Poole FIG which was being scored, for the last time,
under the old scoring system that saw Nadia Comaneck scored
her ‘perfect 10’. The new system will see
scores well over 10 being achieved as the competitors
introduce harder moves.
Katy
Smith, head of artistic coaching at Esprit said, FIG competitions
see the very highest standards of gymnastics being performed
and it is very pleasing to know that Esprit is now competing
with the very best. All our girls performed exceptionally
well and are now acknowledged as being some of the very
best gymnasts in the region if not the whole country.
