Update - November 2006
There
have been many things happening throughout October and
November, but the greatest news of all is that we have
our first BRITISH CHAMPION!
Young Rhythmic gymnast LAURA HALFORD won the British 'under
10' title at the Fenton Manor Sports complex in Stoke
on Trent on the 18 November. She then went on to win both
apparatus Gold's on the Sunday
Not
only was this a fantastic achievement it was followed
up by Alcia Veveris, winning Silver in the under 9 category,
plus two apparatus Silvers, Harriet Evans, Bronze in the
under 10's and another in the apparatus finals and Jade
Faulkner winning a great apparatus Bronze in the Junior
section.
Well
done girls, you were fantastic!
Not
to be outdone however, some of the clubs artistic gymnasts
were in Poole at the Alpha Factor cup and again returned
with a mountain of medals. Abbie Mackenzie GOLD, Olivia
Bloodworth SILVER, Erin Milroy GOLD, Daisy Rolt 5th, Emily
Upshall well up in a large impressive group and Courtney
Hows GOLD. All the Gold medal winners won a superb trophy
and leotard voucher from sponsers Alpha factor.
Courtney
went from Poole straight to Aldershot the following week
for the National Challenge Cup and came away with a very
impressive 5th place and is now waiting to hear if she
did enough to qualify for the British Championships next
year.
The
sponsored fitness test has been going on throughout november
and the winners will be announced soon, well done everyone
involved. Halloween was a hoot and pictures will be on
as soon as we can find room. Well done Jon Hewlett who
completed the Swindon half Marathon in under 1hour 25
minutes. The prize draw is going great, don't forget you
can win some great prizes, so get yours now. The winners
will be announced at the club display.
The
club display is all set for the 16 &17 December, tickets
will be on sale as from Wednesday 6 December and numbers
are strictly limited to 300 as we have hired tiered seating
so that everyone can see properly this year. You will
be able to see all the squad and display gymnasts performing,
including your National champions - so don't miss out
it really will be brilliant!
Don't
forget Thursday pre-school for vulnerable groups. The
lessons are subsidised and only cost £1.50, what
a bargain! (if you can't find a leaflet at a centre near
you, print one out here by clicking on the 'active swindon'
