Esprit gymnasts have the ‘ALPHA’ factor
With
the end of the 2006 gymnastic competition season fast
approaching, it was the last trip of the year for most
artistic gymnasts and Poole in Dorset was the destination,
for the annual Alpha Factor Cup.
This
competition attracts the finest young gymnasts from throughout
the region, competing at various levels through to International
Gymnastics Federation (FIG). First up for Esprit were
youngsters Abbie MacKenzie (8) and Olivia Bloodworth (8).
Both performed excellent routines on all four apparatus,
bars, beam, floor and vault, with Abbie taking a well
deserved Gold medal, impressive trophy and all important
free leotard voucher from sponsor Alpha Factor. Olivia
had one fall on beam that cost her Esprit’s second
Gold of the day, but she still did enough to claim an
excellent Silver at her level.
The
afternoon competition saw children from 10 through to
16 years competing, with Erin Milroy (10), Daisy Rolt
(12) and Emily Upshall (13), Esprit’s representatives.
Erin claimed a very impressive second Gold for Esprit,
with four solid performances that did all of her hard
work in training justice. Daisy Rolt and Emily Upshall
were in one of the largest groups of the day and both
did themselves proud with Daisy finishing in a well deserved
5th place.
The final Esprit gymnast of the day was Courtney Hows
(12), competing in the FIG under 13 group. Competing new
routines, designed specifically for FIG competition, Courtney
made few mistakes to claim Esprit’s third and final
Gold medal, trophy and all important leotard voucher for
her efforts.
“All
the gymnasts can now look forward to a well earned short
rest before training begins in earnest for the new season
after the Christmas break”, said Esprit spokesperson
Mark Hows. “All except Courtney that is, who will
spend the next week perfecting her routines in readiness
for the ‘Challenge Cup’ in Aldershot next
weekend, a qualifier for the British Championships next
year. Once that it out of the way it will be a relaxing
break, performing with the clubs other champion gymnasts,
in the clubs annual display on the 16 and 17 December
at Esprit Gymnastics in Stratton”.
“Anyone
who wants to see these exceptional athletes show what
it takes to be the best, can contact Esprit on 01793 822262
where a few tickets will be available for the show”,
he concluded.
