Pre-School
set to benefit!
Esprit
Gymnastics Academy has at last received some good news.
In
the Evening Advertiser on September 29 it was reported that
the long awaited purpose built gymnastics academy that was
to be opened in Swindon had fallen through because the landlord
changed his mind. However after 2 months of frantic searching
Esprit have agreed a deal on a new building and are confident
that they can secure planning on its use as a gymnastics
training centre.
In
the meantime it has been business as usual for Esprit gymnasts,
the Wootton Bassett Carnival committee were so impressed
with a display the clubs gymnasts performed at their carnival
earlier this year they have awarded the Esprit Gymnastics
club a £100 to buy equipment for their pre-school
classes.
As
well as this welcome donation Esprit have been able to send
no less than SIX of their coaching staff on training courses,
all courtesy of the Sport England Lottery fund. Joint heads
of coaching Deb Hows And Katy Smith said “Swindon
has a wealth of untapped talent that is currently un-catered
for and with the additional expertise the Sport England
funding will bring we will be able to take children from
Pre-school gymnastics right through to British and World
Championship level”.
“Current
and 4 times British Rhythmic Gymnastics Champion Rebecca
Jose was born in Swindon and had to travel to London to
receive adequate training, but we want the future champions
of Swindon to have the opportunity to be trained to the
highest level right here. The best way to ensure children
achieve their full potential is to first encourage them
to enjoy physical activity, this is something we all know
children do not do enough of and is why we have developed
Esprit’s Pre-School gymnastics programme.”
All
we are waiting for now is SBC planning department to accept
our planning application and we will be able to start training
the future gymnastics champions of Swindon.
