begin here, go anywhere.

a few of our success stories...

laura halford

As a young Gymnast Laura was identified as having the potential to succeed as a Rhythmic gymnast.

Since that time, under the direction of Esprit’s head coach Deb Hows, Laura has become one of Britain’s greatest ever rhythmic gymnasts.

Winning the Senior British Championships 5 times and countless other domestic titles, culminating in 4 Commonwealth Games medals in Glasgow and the Gold Coast in Australia.

Since retiring Laura went on to obtain a Sports Science degree and now works in Wales developing a whole new generation of Rhythmic gymnasts.

georgie ashford

As a young gymnast, Georgie learnt the key to success was hard work, dedication and practice. A work ethic she has continued to apply as a well established West End actress.

Georgie has appeared in some of the very best Musical Theatre productions, including A Chorus Line, Legally Blonde, Singing in the Rain, Anything Goes, Showboat, Tick, Tick, Boom and Beautiful, as well as several performances at the Royal Albert Hall in the BBC Proms.

Georgie is living proof, if you start here, you really can go anywhere!

ELLIE MORSE

Another example proving gymnastics can help you achieve incredible things. Ellie was a top performing gymnast at Esprit for more than 11 years and was part of Esprit’s Senior Rhythmic Group which won the Senior British title an unprecedented FIVE years in a row!

She always says Esprit gave her the tools to deal with life and since studying performing arts has gone on to perform with pop band Little Mix and is now a professional full time dancer and aerialist, travelling and performing on some of the worlds greatest cruise liners.

She says - ‘Esprit set me up for life and I could not be more grateful!’

ZOE HEWLETT

Zoe was with Esprit from the age of 3 and trained as an exceptional young gymnast for 10 years. In her own words she says ‘Esprit taught me so many valuable lessons that I know will help me be successful in whatever I do’.

At the age of 13 she discovered Rock Climbing and is now an exceptional competitor. She continues, ‘Esprit taught me the importance of hard work and determination, whilst also giving me the physical advantages of strength and flexibility needed for competitive rock climbing.

Zoe has also qualified as a personal trainer and now runs her own successful practice.

Kathryn BAKER

Since joining Esprit at the tender age of 6, she went on to train in every discipline at Esprit.

As one of the clubs longest serving members, she became a wonderful gymnast, travelling the World with our Display Team and eventually went on to train and qualify as a gymnastics coach. She quickly became a fantastic coach liked and respected by all those she taught.

Eventually however, after many years here, she found a new calling, gained a University Degree and is now bringing new life (and hopefully gymnasts) into the World as a fully qualified NHS MidWife.

Stephani Sherlock

Born and raised in Russia, Stephanie made the brave decision to relocate to Esprit and be trained by our head coach Deb Hows.

It was a decision well made as Stephanie went on to compete for Esprit and England, winning numerous titles including the English and British Championships, as well as selection for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and Australia.

An incredibly warm and giving person, Stephanie always had time for younger gymnasts and was a fantastic role model.

She now continues her successful journey after completing a Sports Marketing Degree.
